The legal situation of the Spanish Prime Minister’s wife gets more complicated: the judge charges Begoña Gómez with new crimes of misappropriation and intrusion.

  • The criminal procedure against Begoña Gómez grows as the judge in charge of the case admits a complaint from Hazte Oír accusing Pedro Sánchez’s wife of appropriating software developed with public money.

MADRID, OCTOBER 30th 2024 – The judge who was already investigating possible crimes committed by the wife of the Spanish President has admitted a new complaint from Hazte Oír for alleged crimes of misappropriation, intrusion, embezzlement of public funds, and disloyal administration.

The judge has called Begoña Gómez before him by November 18th to transfer the complaint to her personally and summon her to declare soon. Therefore, the President’s wife must return to court at least two times.

Until the admission of this complaint, Begoña Gómez was being investigated for influence peddling and corruption in the private sector. With this new admission, and thanks to the work of Hazte Oír’s legal team, led by lawyer Javier María Pérez-Roldán, new crimes are now being investigated.

The complaint was complemented with a complaint extension by Hazte Oír, who also recently presented a document in the proceedings against Begoña Gómez for deleting her website transformatsc.org, a vital aspect of this investigation. The association alleged that this deletion could have the purpose of eliminating evidence against the President’s wife.

“From Hazte Oír, we will continue fighting in the courts to give a voice as a civil society to the thousands of citizens who demand justice. We are legally involved in all the cases: from the Begoña Case to the Koldo Case, from the Hydrocarbons Case to the Sánchez’s Brother Case… we will fight on all fronts against the corruption surrounding the Government of Pedro Sánchez. Hazte Oír is where it needs to be and when it needs to be,” explained Pérez-Roldán, the lawyer for Hazte Oír.
