Sánchez with No Escape: Hazte Oír and Iustitia Europa Request the President to Explain Alleged Criminal Organization

  • A report by the Civil Guard mentions the Prime Minister of Spain in one of the corruption cases currently under investigation within the Socialist Party.

MADRID, OCTOBER 11th, 2024. In the context of the Koldo case, the organizations Hazte Oír and Iustitia Europa have requested that Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez testify as a witness. This case, which has revealed connections between senior government officials and key individuals involved in the scheme, has raised serious concerns for Sánchez and the Socialist Party. He is asked to clarify why his name appears in a report detailing significant movements related to the bailout of Air Europa, an airline that received more than 470 million euros in public funds.

The case directly implicates Víctor de Aldama, who is closely linked to Begoña Gómez, Sánchez’s wife, and who is also under judicial investigation for alleged corruption in business dealings and influence peddling. Furthermore, the testimony of former Minister of Economy Nadia Calviño (currently the President of the European Investment Bank) has also been requested. Her testimony could provide details on key decisions, such as the aforementioned financial bailout of Air Europa.

This scandal has become especially troubling for the government, which must address these accusations. According to the evidence, Pedro Sánchez may have been aware of the actions related to the airline’s bailout and other matters concerning the alleged criminal organization.

Hazte Oír and Iustitia Europa consider his testimony crucial in clarifying his role and dispelling doubts about the possible involvement of those close to him, particularly his wife, Begoña Gómez. The case continues to expose a network of influence that threatens to disrupt the stability of the Socialist government.
