MADRID, JULY 24th, 2024. Pedro Sánchez, who has been summoned to testify in the judicial investigation against his wife for alleged offenses of business corruption and influence peddling, refuses to testify before the judge.
“It is important to point out that this demand, which is not a request, has been submitted by a direct letter to the judge presiding over the case. However, Spanish regulations provide the proper procedural channels to communicate with judicial bodies. Sending a ‘personal’ letter to the judge intending to influence his decision is not only a major irregularity but a true attack on judicial independence,” said Ignacio Arsuaga, CEO of Hazte Oír.
Pedro Sánchez’s testimony is scheduled for next Tuesday, July 30th. “It is the president’s opportunity to demonstrate what he has been saying for months: that he has nothing to hide,” Arsuaga added.
Hazte Oír, acting as a public prosecutor against Begoña Gómez, Pedro Sánchez’s wife, initiated this legal battle on April 5th by filing the first legal measure before the State Attorney General’s Office. “After more than 4 months, time has proven that those who claimed it was all a hoax and that there was no judicial case only wanted to avoid the inevitable,” the Association’s CEO remarked.
The association Hazte Oír, which has been working for months on various strategies to defend the interests of Spaniards and Spain, is preparing new actions for the coming weeks to defend judicial independence in the country. Judicial independence has been the focus of Sánchez’s attacks since the investigation against his wife for alleged business corruption and influence peddling began.

- La asociación ciudadana, acusación popular en el Caso Begoña que se sigue contra la mujer del presidente del Gobierno de España, desea anunciar que prepara diferentes acciones en defensa de la independencia de la judicatura.
MADRID, 24 DE JULIO DE 2024.- Pedro Sánchez, que ha sido llamado a declarar como testigo en la investigación judicial que se sigue contra su mujer por presunta comisión de los delitos de corrupción en los negocios y tráfico de influencias, se niega a declarar ante el juez.
“Es importante señalar que dicha exigencia, que no petición, ha sido tramitada por carta directa al juez que instruye la causa. Pero la normativa española prevé los oportunos cauces procesales para comunicarse con los órganos judiciales. Mandar una carta ‘personal’ al juez con el propósito de influir en su decisión no solo es una gran irregularidad, sino un verdadero ataque a la independencia judicial” ha señalado el presidente de Hazte Oír, Ignacio Arsuaga.
La testifical de Pedro Sánchez tendrá lugar el siguiente martes, 30 de julio. “Es la oportunidad del presidente para demostrar lo que lleva diciendo meses: que no tiene nada que esconder”, señala Arsuaga.
Hazte Oír, acusación popular contra Begoña Gómez, mujer de Pedro Sánchez, inició la batalla legal contra la ahora investigada el pasado 5 de abril al presentar la primera medida ante la Fiscalía General del Estado. “Después de más de 4 meses, el tiempo ha demostrado que aquellos que decían que todo era bulo y no había caso judicial solo querían evitar lo inevitable”, ha querido señalar el presidente de la asociación.
La asociación Hazte Oír, que lleva trabajando meses en diferentes estrategias para defender los intereses de los españoles y de España, prepara para las próximas semanas nuevas medidas en defensa de la independencia judicial, foco de los ataques de Sánchez desde que se iniciase la investigación contra su mujer por presunta corrupción en los negocios y tráfico de influencias.
